AbstractThis paper describes the procedures applied to select the best transects for performing bathimetric survey on the Curuai Lake floodplain . The first step in the procedure was to analyze the lake hydrograph so as identify scene referred to the minimum water level. This scene was then used to draw as many as transects to be measured on the ground with the aid of a Lowrance LMS-480 sonar. The sonar survey covered around 4 600 km in a 19 day campaign. An example of sonar data processing is presented as well as an assessment of the overall procedure.
